A veteran inspired journey of remembrance, honoring the 7,054 military members lost during combat operations since 9/11.
Remembrance is the Greater Part of Honor
One Mile Will Be Traveled For Each Service Member Lost
As the joint service team embarks upon a journey that will cross America, it will collect and memorialize the priceless stories so many of our military members, veterans, and fellow Americans hold dear – those of loss, success, and the many struggles and triumphs that will remind us that Americans have far more in common than we have differences.
While others will lead the noble effort of building a physical monument for the Global War on Terror (GWOT), our ambition is to construct a living memorial; instead of bricks and steel, our monument will be built with the stories and perspectives of veterans and their families that will evolve and grow as people contribute and memorialize their experiences.
On August 21, 2022, this joint service team embarked with a send-off by the Michigan National guard in Lansing Michigan, and crossed the United States making planned and unplanned stops. We completed our 2022 journey on September 11th in Washington DC.
Come back for our 2023 schedule.
Digital Memorial
A living virtual monument represents a new paradigm in how we memorialize the past. Traditionally, we have memorialized history with monolithic, rigid objects that isolate history and take it out of context. These mammoth objects try, often unsuccessfully, to make the person or event immortal and unchanging.
Technological advances now allow us to successfully immortalize memories and flip this paradigm. Our virtual, living monument will be far from static and instead grow, evolve, and consider the wider context of interrelated connections that make up history.
It will focus on our service members’ shared history and will be alive, immediate, and relevant to people.
Our virtual memorial will facilitate these connections by creating the fabric and partnerships that will connect these stories thereby preserving the memory of our veterans and their service.
STORIES TOLD, LEGENDS UNFOLD
Project RELO
The Organization Behind Task Force Tribute
After 6+ years of success in providing deep, immersive leadership training to America’s top executives, the nonprofit Project RELO has helped transform the perspective on the value of veterans within the civilian workforce. By placing business leaders and veterans together in challenging military training environments and forcing them to rely upon each other, meaningful relationships have been forged, lasting networks created, and the character of America’s veterans exposed.
Project RELO is expanding its mission and is embarking upon a “coast to coast” journey – one that pays homage to the 7,054 service members who have given their all since 9/11. This initiative is called Task Force Tribute. Funds raised as a result of this effort will create a deep and immersive virtual memorial to those lost and those that served and still serve our great nation. See www.projectrelo.org for more information about our nonprofit.
